Bio
As the younger of two children raised in West Hartford, Connecticut, Joanna grew up sharing her father’s love of music. Joanna got her first taste of performing during school concerts and at the age of 13 she formed an all-girl band. Joanna’s love for music was matched only by her desire to help and care for others. It was this passion that led Joanna to obtain a BS in nursing and later a Master’s Degree from Yale University in Hospital Administration so she could pursue a career as a nurse and raise a family.
Though she was very happy working in health care and raising a family, performing was never far from her heart. Joanna began taking acting classes at the famed HB Studio’s in NYC, where her teachers included Uta Hagen and Sir Anthony Hopkins. This led to her performing in a series of three one-woman shows in NYC. Reviewers, including Backstage and The Village Voice, praised the “amazing range and emotion” of her voice, and declared her performances “captivating and entertaining.” It wasn’t until the untimely death of her beloved father that Joanna realized she wanted to pursue her childhood dream of becoming a Recording Artist and Songwriter.
In 2006, Joanna released, on her own Dolce Diva music label, three consecutive Top Ten singles on the FMQB AC Radio Charts between 2006 and 2008. In 2010, Joanna released her first full length album, self titled, “Joanna Mosca.” Her first single off the album, “Keep on Going,” earned critical acclaim in both Country and Adult Contemporary Music, and shot to the Billboard Top 30 AC National charts. Her success with the single led her to be named one of the top 100 Independent recording artists by Music Connection Magazine.
Her next single, “Like I’m Leaving," was featured on over a hundred radio stations across the US and the world. This attracted the attention of celebrated folk singer Martin Sexton which earned her a place on a sixteen city international tour in 2011, opening up for Martin in venues ranging from Montreal to Aspen, Colorado to Bozeman, Montana.
In the fall of 2011, Joanna released her third single, “Where Does Good Love Go”, a duet with Lonestar’s front man Richie McDonald, and produced by country superstar Bryan White. The single charted on the widely respected Music Row Country charts. One of country music’s most respected critics, Robert K. Oermann at Music Row Magazine, dubbed the song "as country as grits."
The success of “Where Does Good Love Go” has led to Joanna being named to “Who’s new to watch” in 2012 in the February 2012 issue of CMA Close Up magazine. Joanna plans on releasing a new EP and a single in the spring of 2012.
